is the mantra that
BILLY
lives by and the reality he has created is one of great success.
BILLY
captures the energy and power of the city around him, creating what he calls
"Urban Primitive," a kaleidoscope of puzzle-like images that celebrate the
diversity and joy of the human spirit, relationships, friendships, and the
simple smile of a child. He has been embraced by both the fine and
commercial art worlds, having openings at such venues as the prestigious
Forbes Gallery in New York, Casa Decor and Art Basel Miami, The Heidi Cho
Gallery in Chelsea, openings in Chicago, Cleveland, Austin, Texas, Orlando
and internationally at The Carib Fine Art Gallery on the island of Curacao. BILLY'S commercial clients include custom designs for Mountain Dew, Smart Car USA, the reality show Dr Pepper Band in a Bubble on MTV featuring the band Cartel, Hyundai's 2007 Tiburon (featured at The New York, LA, and Chicago Auto Show), Suzuki's Grand Vitara (featured at The New York International Auto Show), mural designs for Delaguarda, The Rio Casino in Las Vegas, Chock Full O Nuts Coffee, Starbucks, The New York Mets, the original New York and London productions of the award winning musical RENT, Woodstock 99, where BILLY was one of the lead designers for the "Peace Wall" surrounding the concert and the emerging artist stage where the likes of George Clinton, Moby, and the late John Entwistle performed, as well as five murals for The Sony/BMG Music, TV, and Film Studios in New York, home to such artists as Jay Z, Beyonce, John Legend, Jennifer Lopez, and numerous other music, TV, and film stars. BILLY'S public art projects have been sponsored by such clients as Edward Minskoff (owner of the IBM building in New York), Entertainment Weekly Magazine, The Advertising Company of New York, BR Guest Restaurants, Imodium, The Shubert Organization, The American Kennel Club, Cowparade New York and Las Vegas, and other corporate clients such as Epic Records, Urban Box Office, Columbia Pictures, Pizza Hut/Spike Lee, and Bike Nashbar. BILLY has been featured internationally in such publications as The New York Times, New York Post, Daily News, USA Today, The Washington Post, Philadelphia Enquirer, Cleveland Plain Dealer, and television appearances on Fox and Friends, CNN, Discovery Channel, TLC, VH-1, The Tony Danza Show, and 60 Minutes to name a few. BILLY'S done artwork for several philanthropic organizations such as Covenant House, The Harvey Milk High School, JCC of Manhattan, and The Fresh Air Fund. BILLY is in the permanent collection of The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art, The IBM building in New York, and his work has been auctioned at Sothebys. A documentary about BILLY, his work, and his life as an artist was completed and is available on dvd. |
